random post of the day

Guys , be thankful for your cottony soft white briefs or airy boxers ( or g-strings/thongs for some :D ) because in some tribes , men keep their little brothers in cute little casings called phallocrypts .

By the way i think phallocrypt is a damn cool name for something that is so primitive.

Move over , NewUrbanMale's male version of Wonderbra

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
and you thought only female cleavages requires a lil pushing up

...here comes the Phallocrypt !!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I have nothing but respect and amazement for such tribes because they have managed to preserve their culture even as the rest of the world moves on and the way they manage to co-exist with Nature with such perfect balance.

However i couldn't help but be amused as i caught a documentary showcasing the life of an Indonesian tribe , the men wearing gourds skillfully shaped into a hollow phallus , secured with strings made from plant fibre.

Firstly , it must be really hard on their little members to be cooped up in such cramped conditions. Yes , the smell too.

Secondly , the hassle of urinating.

Thirdly , they give rise to the impression that the wearer has a fright-inducing 11 incher ( refer to above pic , the first two guys )

Oh , what wouldn't i give to be one of them ?

To run around in the wild topless and breastfeeding my child without getting any complaints from the fucked up public and preserving the culture of my tribe.

To be able to drink from a running stream and not worry about contamination.

No taxes.

What is Popular culture ?

Popular objects and identities are well known and well liked by most people. They are welcome with open arms and accepted for their originality and significance from the norm. Many cultures throughout the world have their own distinctive identity and in some multi-racial countries like Singapore, considered part of daily life. Since people tend to emulate useful examples that aid in their daily lives, things like cultural activities naturally fall into place when we think of introducing something new to the system.

One of the most popular and dominant cultures in the world is the Western culture. Its influence has taken the world by shock. What contributes to the influence of the western culture in other parts of the world? Recent articles have shown that the English Language is more commonly used around the world compared to the French or German, mainly because of its practicality and importance around the world. (multimedia) Its uniqueness and flexibility have proved that the Western culture is probably the most versatile. Take Christianity for example, its popularity has risen throughout the decade mainly because of how it has been able to properly assimilate the various important traits of the culture. Even with regards to the food industry, notice that western food outlets have been heavily patronized throughout the world - for instance, franchised outlets such as McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Besides that, being one of the countries that incorporate the traditional convenience of "drive-thru", Singapore has its own drive-thru cinema and fast food outlet.

One must agree that the modern world has gained much influence from the western culture. Speaking about the modern world, men and women of all culture groups tend to mimic the fashion sense of that in the United States of America. Comparing cultures with different traditional identity, it is made known to the public that a traditional style of dressing is affixed. Nevertheless, people follow the trend. But not in the modern world, for one to have what is considered as fashion sense, he or she has to dress up looking like a westerner. In other words, dress up looking "cool". Weird, it may sound but this actually takes place in our own country as well. According to recent observations, 80% of the people in Singapore are very self-conscious, with regards to their dressing, and are easily affected by the opinions of others.

In addition to that, speech has been re-defined in the world. In the recent years, English has been forged into what we call the “modern” form. How so? It all started with the hip-hop trend, which originated from the African Americans. Referred to as the entrepreneurs of hip-hop, these people set the standard and spread their influences to young kids. These kids blindly imitate their speaking patterns. It is possible to see the major evolution that language has undergone. Grammar has been re-structured. All these factors contribute indirectly to how the media is shaped, we shall look further into these points.

Globalization of the American culture

A majority of Americans has a favorable view of American popular culture. Even though a large minority of the public is pessimistic about the quality of US movies and television and has mixed feelings about the globalization of US commercial culture, only a small minority considers the dominance of US culture a threat to other cultures. A very strong majority of Americans thinks the US has had a lot of impact on popular culture in the rest of the world, and a majority thinks it will have even more of an impact in the future.
One of the most controversial aspects of globalization is the worldwide spread and dominance of American culture. Just as US goods flooded world markets in the post-Word War II era, US culture is now penetrating every continent through the dramatic growth of mass communications such as music, television, films and the Internet, as well as through the penetration of American corporations into foreign countries. From China to France to the Middle East, foreign leaders and activists have expressed fear that global culture may become too Americanized, destroying their own cultural, economic, and religious traditions. Where does the majority public stand?
Polls show that Americans generally have a positive view of US culture. In the October 1999 PIPA poll, a strong majority (60%) said they had a favorable view of "American popular culture, such as music, television, and films" (21% had a very favorable opinion). Thirty-nine percent found it to be unfavorable (14% very unfavorable). [1]
In addition, a strong majority thinks US culture had a lot of impact on other countries in the 20th century, and an overwhelming majority believes it will have equal or greater influence in the 21st century. When asked in a December 1999 CBS News survey "how much impact…the United States has had on popular culture in the rest of the world" in "this past century", 70% said it had "a lot." Another 22% said it had "some" and just 6% said the impact was "not much" or "none at all." Perhaps surprisingly, given the remarkable global impact of US culture in the 1900s, an overwhelming majority thinks the impact will be equal or greater in this century. In the same CBS survey, nearly 9 out of 10 said the US would have either more impact (34%) or the same impact (55%) on popular culture throughout the world than it has now. Only 20% felt the impact would be less. [2]
Yet there is no indication that the majority has a desire to spread this culture. In fact, a plurality of 48% said they feel either mixed (43%) or bad (5%) feelings when they "hear about McDonalds opening up in cities around the world, or…the popularity of US TV shows in other countries." Forty-three percent had "good feelings". [3] Indeed, in a 1998 Yankelovich poll, a near-unanimous majority (91%) agreed, "the global economy makes it more important than ever for all of us to understand people who are different than ourselves." This is hardly an endorsement of US cultural imperialism.

Impact of Popular culture

Globalisation of the American culture is very significant in more ways than one , it can be seen in many various forms of the media we see today.

One of the most important form that shows the manifestation of the American culture is liberalization .

In music , the impact is very obvious , as Asian musicians adopted the western’s way of making music , be it in the form of Rap or Jazz .

Lyrics became more explicit too.

In advertising , what used to be just plain information providing has morphed into a mish-mash of visual assault , from scantily clad models to suggestive words being spoken.

In movies , what used to be taboo in a conservative Asian society is now being constantly portrayed in Asian movies , from drug abuse to sex. And they are being accepted as readily.

i was bathing just now when i came across this really kooky thing sitting on top of the sink with the tube of toothpaste sticking prominently out from it. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be this really indigenous device that squeezes out every fucking last breath of whats left inside the tube with u turn the knob at the side. Ya , you know , like when your mother ties a rubber band at the end of the toothpaste tube when its finishing to squeeze out the very last scrap in it. I found this really amusing , cuz

1) the little bit of toothpaste left in the tube costs nano-cents. Maybe say , 0.001 cents ?

2) the device costs abt , say , $1.50.

So , spending money to save money. ha ha ha. we'll need to use the device for like 20 years b4 we can get our worth back. Theoretically speaking its not gonna last for more than a year before it falls apart. Silly singaporeans.

------

Yes , i scrape my tongue with the flexible plastic thingy every damn day, and i'm not ashamed to say so. Why ? Because , it promotes good oral hygiene and prevents bad breath by almost 75 % !!!!! So , do the world a favour and start scraping yr tongue of all those obnoxious bacteria and sendiments of food . Bad breath is NOT , i repeat , NOT attractive. i cant believe i'm butt naked as i type this entry . I'm fresh out of the shower , my hair's dripping wet and i'm doing this becuz i had an inspiration to write this entry and i didnt wanna miss it. So there. Ok , time to do my hair and make up and get ready for work. Ciao.

my dad has a penchant for buying home new food items on the market that often tastes really nasty. Like yesterday he bought KFC's 'Go-go' , which is erm, a chicken strip with veges and stuff in a pita bread ? I had it for breakfast dis morning and my verdict ? It tastes really offending , with the chicken absorbing the peking sauce and turnin it horribly soggy and undesirable. and i could detect no traces of chicken in the strip either. All i can make out was masses of brown flour. Urrrgghhh. KFC. What a marketing gimmick !!!!!

Even as i type this , the hype over the china students VS singapore students is still going on , no thanks to that diablo34 guy who said smth idiotic in a chinese forum a week or so ago. He probably is just another white faced , white assed loser who spends all his time playing Diablo at home anyway becuz he has no life and no friends. And did u see his pic ? Yuck.

Yesterday , matt sent me a clip that totally sent me running away from my com. no , its not a ghostly clip , but a porn clip that lasted 20 seconds. And guess what. Its abt this two gals having lesbian fun on the bed and this gal inserted her WHOLE fist into the other gal's ***** and what the hell , she actually looked as if she liked it. damn ! i certainly hope i won't go to such extends just to enjoy sex.Its like having a baby ! And thats not the weirdest fetish i've ever seen , there's this guy from germany who actually killed a willing gay partner and he fu*ked the dead partner before eating him. this is SO SICK ! And the reports actually said that the guy actually cummed while eating the dead guy. Okay , this is so like , wow. He must have mutiple orgasms just by being standing at a mortuary or a cemetry alone. Wait , guys cant achieve mutiple orgasms. Oh well. maybe this guy. I swore this article was found in the new paper. In addition to this extremely morbid fetish , there are also a couple of others which i find to be as disturbing, like an obsession with shit or urine. omg. why cant ppl just have normal sex like what our ancestors used to do ? do we really need handcuffs and whips just to have children and carry on the family line ?!!

yea , so today we were supposed to like bring all da stuff like papers and cutleries from the main office in Terminal 2 to the cafe in Terminal when some stupid technician refused to let us thru the Skytrain cuz our entire 'luggage' was pretty heavy and we had to lug every damn shit thru the hot and stuffy carpark where we found ourself stuck cuz there simply aint no way cuz there're barriers everywhere. well we decided to try our luck at the skytrain again and phew the fucker wasnt there anymore. Imagine , we took like 2hours plus just to transport a few mere boxes from Terminal 2 to terminal 1 !!! All becuz of one stubborn muthafugger ! Grrrrrrrrr

Have been clubbing like WAY too much , consecutively visiting MS ( the 'capital' of night life in singapore ) for 5 whole fridays. This isnt goin down too well with ma body , i cud almost hear my liver cryin out for help after processing those toxic alochols. hehe. Made a pact with my body not to go clubbing for the next two weeks but i broke it almost immediately as i headed down to Bill Bentley's pub at the Aiirport with my collegues for a drink just now.

I had a snowball which is basically Gin,sprite, grenadine syrup and cream so it isnt strong , in fact i seriously find the bartenders from Bill's suck alot as they always water down the liquor in cocktails but hmm as we get staff discount it aint that bad but i would really prefer kenneth ( my manager ) to shake up da drinks for us , him being a head bartender at ZOuk during his hey days ! He mixed a cocktail named 77 sunset strip for us the other on the house and YUM ! it was really good , a guaranteed hit with da ladies for its sweet taste but boy the alcohol really went up to my head for Eshika and I were the two culprits guilty of sucking up most of the drink. Hehe. ANyway the Snowball i had today tasted rather decent upon the first few sips but it started tastin really medicinal with the bitter aftertaste lingerin in my mouth which i suspect is due to usin a lousy brand of grenadine syrup. I couldnt taste any gin in it at all and overall it tasted like a freakin soda pop. I swore to myself i would never ever touch a cocktail @ Bill's again , cuz we ordered a long island iced tea and a screwdriver the other and it tasted like crap too but their spirits are fine , their prices compeititive and anyway the discerning drinker knows his drink when it comes in shot glasses. aint no deceivin unlike cocktails where the other cheapo ingredients like syrup usually mask the low content of liquours in dubious pubs with shitty bartenders like those from Bill's. Eshika had CHivas Regal on the rocks just now and it was like WOO ! i could smell the ethanol and even with a tiny sip i felt like my whole mouth was engulfed in flames. Kinda cheap too , $7.50.

Dunno why but recently it feels as if my hormones are raging as i've been goin ga-ga easily over guys easily, lusting over them like bitches in heat. OK , so lusting is too strong a word , more like a 'sustained interest'. And now that i'm workin in an international airport it doesnt help alleviate my boy-crazy symptons as i get to drool over tons of cute foreign guys. Ha ha ha. I think ah , i;ve been single for too damn long , and tis is e side effects of it. I blew a date recently when i went out with this guy and i couldnt believe it when he actually said 'erm.. the movie ticket is $7.50...' to ME ! I was totally flabbergasted and i stood there lookin at him with my mouth wide open when i regained my composure and calmly took the money out from my wallet. Its like , he has been ( im not tryin to boast ) almost beggin me to go out with him for the past 2 weeks and now that i've not so reluctantly done so ( i say this because he's quite eligible and cute really ) , i totally regret it ! I've always believed in goin dutch on dates but not when its a first date !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I disappointedly striked him off my list of potential boyfriends and that leaves me with..... zero candidates. NOt that i had many candidates to begin with of course. Ever since January i only thought of dating two guys , one of which is him and the other , well , its a long story . Aww. God c'mon. Bless me pls. i wanna get married. Ok pls ignore me , i've been like dis for da past few days. Its just a phase im goin thru , it'll go away , i promise !!!!! By the way, clay aiken is SOOOOOO cute with glasses !!! Ha ha !

well since i'm already at the blogger website i might as well get on with doing some serious updating. Ok , many of you guys are wondering about my O levels. Well , they were pretty much what i expected , failing two subjects namely maths and accounts , a distinction for my english , a b3 for my humanities and C6 for both chinese and science. Not really outstanding results ya but hmm i'm not exactly complaining. I've been accepted by MDIS ( a private instituition ) and i will be there to do my Mass comm studies until NYP okays me to study their Media studies course.

Well , nothing much has been happening much in life my really , except that i've found a new job as a barista ( coffee bartender lol ) at Cafe Ritazza at Changi airport . A really great job with great colleagues.

Been clubbing alot of late , especially with Jermaine and company , and occasionally HH and company.

Thats about it , i'm still single , still alone and not that i'm complaining of course. Actually i'm feeling rather angry with myself for letting an opportunity pass because of my 'haughtiness'. Its kinda personal so i'm not gonna like elaborate on it. zzz.

Oh my !! It has been like almost a month since my last posting ! Well , not in the best of moods to do a proper update now cuz i stink to high heaven , being unbathed after being out the whole day. Gross. Thanks to all for your concerned emails , no , unfortunately i am still here . Where ? aha. Let me tell YOU where ! I am on a tiny minute spot , north of the south east asia continent , on planet Earth , in the Solar System , located in the Orion arm of the Milky way , a infinitesimal part of the expanding vast universe. Ok , i am being extremely annoying here.

There's something wrong with the comment thingy.. damn..
